An invitation for Educators
This is an announcement for a Happy Teachers Sangha this Saturday Sept 20, 15.00-16.30 PM CET. It is also a question. This is in English because I also want to invite International Friends. This page is part of a website I am building for the Dutch Education Sangha on Monday evening.
One friend shared with me that she felt very exhausted after her first week at school. Another friend shared that students observed an increase of joy in him as a teacher. If you read this, maybe a personal practice comes up in your mind which you use to maintain as present and happy as you can as a teacher.
In this video (the art of sangha building) Thay shares about his vision on sangha building. The importance of a community in which you can withdraw, rest, restore and reconnect with your inner peace and heal. It is my quest how to offer and maintain this healing place as a sangha for teachers. Thay talks about the art of sangha building. I have the intuition that new forms of community are needed in these turbulent times.

The sangha does not have to be perfect, as Thay teaches in this short talk on how to live in a community. In a Sangha building day last weekend someone said: you have to find new forms, like a picknick, a walk, a place were you can share joy and be a happy group. Another one said: you must be more present in society, in schools; do a walking meditation on shopping Saturday in the shopping center. There was this idea of building a Sangha with two or three persons who could be buddy for each other. The core is: without building a sangha it is a challenge to take refuge in a sangha.
So I invite you to join this online Sangha meeting via this zoom link or share your thoughts. This Saturday (20 September) 15.00-16.30 CET.
I wish you moments of joy and connection
Joost Vriens.
